Andrew Thomas Carroll was born on 6 January 1989 in Gateshead, Newcastle. He is the youngest Newcastle player who ever played in European championship, at the age of 17 years and 300 days during UEFA Cup match against Palermo, on 2 November 2006.
He made his Premiere League debut against Wigan on Feruary 25th, 2007. Scored his first goal as senior team member against Juventus during friendly games on July 29th, 2007.
After a rather unsuccessful loan period on Preston North End, he returned to Newcastle United and finally got his first competitive goal in Newcastle United jersey.
Newcastle United relegation during 2009-2010 season, was a blessing in disguise as a the exodus of Newcastle United's top strikers such as Oba Martin and Michael Owen eventually made him first team choice in Newcastle attacking side, partnering with Shola Ameobi or Peter Lovenkrands. It didn't take long before he became Magpies' favorite as he became club top scorer with 19 goals which helped Newcastle United won Championship division title and returned to Premiere League.
Departure :
On 31 January 2011, after some speculations, he finally moved to Liverpool, with a (overrated) transfer of £35 million. Currently the highest transfer for a British footballer and the 8th highest for any footballer.
